Our History
Terra Nova Trusses is a proud Newfoundland-owned and operated company, incorporated in 1976 by Denis P. Galway and Patrick MacDonald.
Recognizing a growing demand for pre-engineered roof and floor truss systems in residential and commercial construction on the Avalon, Denis and Pat introduced this innovative manufacturing technology at a time when traditional building methods were still widely used.
A Legacy of Dedication & Growth
Some of our original employees, hired over 45 years ago, are still part of the Terra Nova Trusses team today—an incredible testament to our company’s culture and commitment.
In 1994, the company transitioned to second-generation leadership, with Denis P. Galway’s sons, Denis A. and Frank Galway, taking ownership. Their vision and dedication led to significant growth, including the installation of advanced truss and saw technology in 2005, which dramatically enhanced production capacity, quality, and delivery efficiency.
The Next Generation
On January 1, 2021, after 27 successful years, Frank Galway retired, marking the beginning of the company’s third generation of leadership. Patrick and Denis C. Galway acquired Frank’s shares and continued to build upon the company’s rich legacy. In 2023, Denis A. Galway retired after 29 years, passing the torch to Patrick and Denis C., who together bring 14 years of entrepreneurial experience to Terra Nova Trusses.
What We Do Today
Terra Nova Trusses proudly manufactures Roof Trusses, Wall Panels and floor trusses for the residential, commercial, and agricultural sectors. We also distribute:
- Wood I Joists
- Open Web Joists
- Laminated Veneer Lumber Beams (LVL)
- Steel Posts, Truss Fasteners, & a large selection of hangers
Operating from a 16,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant in Mount Pearl, our team of 15 full- and part-time employees is dedicated to delivering high-quality structural solutions with precision and expertise.
