Our History
Terra Nova Trusses is a Newfoundland owned and operated company incorporated in 1976 by Denis P Galway and Patrick MacDonald.
Denis and Pat identified a growing need in pre-engineered roof and floor truss systems for residential and commercial construction on the Avalon. Traditional building methods were still being used at the time as this new manufacturing technology method was just being introduced.
Today, some of our original employees are still working with us, 45 years later!
In 1994, the company was sold to Denis P Galway’s sons Denis A and Frank Galway. Together this second generation team worked hard in expanding the corporation over the past 27 years. In 2005, Terra Nova Trusses installed the latest truss and saw technology, which has helped the company increase production capacity. The Terra Nova Trusses team of skilled and workers and experienced technicians have delivered improvements in both quality and delivery times.
On January 1, 2021 Frank Galway retired after 27 years of a successful career in the truss business. Patrick and Denis C Galway purchased Franks shares thus beginning the third generation of Galways leading Terra Nova Trusses into its 45 year history. In 2023 Denis A Galway decided it was his time to retire after his 29 years of service. Patrick and Denis C bring 14 years of entrepreneurial experience with them. Both new shareholders are very excited to join the team.
We manufacture Roof and Floor Trusses for the residential, commercial, and agriculture sectors. We are also distributors of Wood I Joists, Open Web Joists, Laminated Veneer Lumber Beams, and accessories such as Steel Posts, LVL, Truss Fasteners and a large selection of Hangers. Terra Nova Trusses operates a 16,000 sq. ft manufacturing plant in the city of Mount Pearl and employ 15 full and part time employees.
